Gerald O. Barney , Founder and Trustee, has helped empower young people to advocate for the Earth they would like to inherit. Previously he led the Millennium Institute in developing computer simulation models for sustainable national planning. Their work involved over 20 countries, and contributed to Poverty Reduction Strategies and to progress toward the Millennium Development Goals. He was a program officer for the Rockefeller Brothers Fund and directed Global 2000 for President Jimmy Carter, which he presented at the 1993 Parliament of the World’s Religions. Jerry holds a Ph.D. in fusion-energy physics from the University of Wisconsin and has done post-doctoral studies in environment and modeling at MIT. He has also authored several books. He and his wife Carol live in Arlington, Virginia; they have three children and two grandchildren.
Angeline Cione, Chair of the Board, holds M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Vanderbilt University. For two years, she was the Our Task Research Coordinator, working with members and mentors to write global outlook chapters for the Earth Wiki and the Our Inheritance paper and to compile requests for the Youth Earth Plan. She is attracted to Our Task because of its global and holistic perspective and the idea of encouraging young adults to stand up for their future.She is currently an Environmental Engineer with Applied Environmental and Eastern Research Group (ERG) in Washington DC, where she works on a GHG inventory for the Pentagon and on recycling and storm water management projects. Her research interests include fuel cells, photovoltaic energy, alternative fuels, and green building practices. At Vanderbilt University, she played sports (cross-country, rugby, soccer, triathlons), rode her bike around town, went hiking/camping in the beautiful state parks, listened to local music, and helped the campus environmental club.
Maria Takahashi, Executive Director, has served as the OT Secretariat Coordinator in Spring/Summer of 2009. She continued as OT’s Recruitment Coordinator while doing environmental education for nine months at YMCA Camp Grady Spruce in Graford, Texas. Her education is focused on environmental issues, including an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Vanderbilt University and a B.S. in Environmental Science from University of Virginia. She is bilingual in English and Japanese, and has studied both French and Mandarin Chinese. She races in triathlons and plays duet in weddings.

Derik Kim, Video Production Supervisor, currently live in Woodbridge, VA. A graduate from Gar-Field Senior High School with International Baccalaureate degree, Derik plans on majoring in film/photography and possibly minoring in sociology at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is interested in educating people hisage, the effects they can have in issues in their communities as well as opening up new ideas and possibilities for people in terms of what they can do in their free time. In his free time, he enjoys tennis, reading, poetry, music etc.

Greg D’Addario, Web/Blog Advisor – is a graduate student pursuing a Master’s of Science in Sustainable Systems at Slippery Rock University in Slippery Rock, PA. He earned a B.A. in Environmental Policy with a minor in Elementary Education from Roanoke College in Salem, VA. He is the OT Web/Blog Advisor and previously the OT Webmaster. In addition to his work with Our Task, he is a substitute teacher. He has also worked as an Information Technology professional, tutor, design development and sustainability education graduate assistant. Greg has created or maintained web sites for several organizations. Greg enjoys music and has played trumpet for many years. He is an Eagle Scout and scouting leader, and loves the outdoors. Greg believes in OT so that future generations can enjoy what we have.

Brandon Kalber, Web/Blog Master – is a web developer with experience in administrative, marketing, and customer service. He has been trained at the Center for Digital Imaging Arts-Boston University, Washington, DC. He is also a musician, with a BA in music from Florida State University. When he is not working on the internet, he plays bass with a number of Washington DC based bands and teaches private bass and guitar lessons.

Aurelia Khorsand, Intern Coordinator, coordinated the OT internship program in 2009. She just entered the University of Virginia to major in an environmentally related subject and play in the UVA band. She is a graduate of WT Woodson High School where two years she was the Drum Major for the school’s 160 member marching band and played clarinet in the symphonic band. Other activities included the crew team (reached nationals), the “It’s Academic” team, the French Honors Society, and the National Honors Society. She has received five Presidential Awards for her volunteer work with charities and bronze, silver, and gold Congressional Service Awards. In her free time, she is working on a novel. She works with Our Task because of her desire for a hopeful and better future for people and Earth.
Jessica Wessell, Development Coordinator – Jessica Wessell lives in Ashburn, VA, USA. She graduated from Frostburg State University with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Fisheries and is now a graduate student at George Mason University working on her Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Policy (Environmental Management concentration). She currently works at Lowes Island Elementary School in Sterling, VA as a technology assistant. Her ultimate goal is conservation education. At Frostburg, she headed Student Center for Volunteerism and led Relay for Life on the campus for the American Cancer Society for four years. She also was involved with cataloging the Cavallaro Collection at Frostburg State University along with being an officer of the student chapter of the Wildlife Society. She was involved in the effort to persuade Dr. Jonathan Gibralter, President of Frostburg State University, to sign the Talloires Declaration (University Presidents for a Sustainable Future) to green the Frostburg campus. In addition, she is an ardent supporter of Glories Happy HATS, a program making funny hats for thousands of seriously ill children. Her family, especially her twin sister Rachael, also continue to work with and support Our Task.
