Crew volunteers and mentors fill out the OT production crews and provide coaching and support on camera, lights, audio, and editing for less experienced crew members.
Who is this for?
If you would like both to learn video production and take a more active role during video shoots, the crew volunteer and mentor positions are for you. The volunteer will go through training with one of the Our Task mentors on how to use the field camera, how to conduct interviews, and how to use Final Cut Pro. Volunteers are encouraged to take the studio and field couses at Arlington Independent Media and become certified at AIM so use the AIM studio and gear to produce shows.
What do I do after the training (or if I already have training)?
The volunteer will then participate in video shoots as a regular volunteer, helping set up and run the camera, preparing interview subjects, editing, etc. After working in the field, the volunteer mentor will be asked to take a leadership role for future shoots. Their tasks would consist of teaching and supervising new volunteers and interns on how to operate the camera and what to do during a field shoot.
