Blog and Vlogs

How do I post a blog or a vlog?  For that matter, what is a Blog?  Or a Vlog?

blog (short for “web log”) is a personal journal published on the web in discrete pieces (“posts”).  Posts are typically displayed in reverse chronological order so the most recent post appears first.  A vlog is a video blog, often recorded with a webcam.

Is Our Task Blogging/Vlogging right for me?

Blogging and vlogging are one of the easiest and most effective ways to get your opinion heard.  We recommend blogginb and vlogging to anyone as an effective way to share your thoughts with other thoughtful citizens.  To blog, all you need is something to talk about and internet access.  To vlog, you also need webcam.  Anyone can be our blogger/vlogger!

What am I allowed to write/talk about on the OT blog and vlog?

We want civil, construtive dialog on our site.  So, here is a way you might get started.  Have you read an article lately that caught your attention and brought a comment to mind?  Have you heard an interesting story in a chat room or on radio that you would like to report and comment on?  Or maybe an unfairly critical report that you feel needs to be answered?

These topics are all good candidates for an OT blog or vlog, as long as you frame your comment in a civil, constructive manner that relates our future.  For example, you might blog or vlog about storm damage that will affect food price for next year, and you can give constructive positive proposal such as home gardening.  We prefer to stay away from negative criticisms or complaints.  For example, we are not looking for complaints about the price of food.  Turn that thought around into a opinion about how to keep food prices down.  Remember: Blogs/Vlogs are opinions.

Okay, got an idea?  Want to get started?  It is easy.

  1. Email Greg (Greg[at]OurTask.org)
  2. He will let you know how to access your contributor’s account
  3. Your first few blogs/vlogs will be moderated by Greg, and you can him ask for help until you get the hang of it.
  4. After a few times, Greg will give you a contributor account, and can blog/vlog to your heart’s content!

Enjoy!
