Volunteer

As a high-school or college student, primarily between 15 to 25 yrs old, you can gain new skills and learn about non-profits by doing, with a designated staff person to guide your experience. As an adult (25 yrs old and up), whether you are relatively young in your field or a retired professional,  you can lend your knowledge in an area of your professional expertise.


Joining our volunteer team is easy!

  1. Look at different projects that are going on by looking at our Program page

  2. Scan through positions that may interest you

  3. Fill out Volunteer Opportunity form

  4. You’ll get a confirmation email from our volunteer coordinator within 2 days

  5. We’ll provide you with tasks

  6. You tell us what part of the task list you are interested in doing

Our Task volunteer positions, listed below, are for anyone who is at least high school age and can be tailored to suit individual skill levels. Inside () is the minimum age, therefore (15) is available for anyone who is 15 or older. We are working on making a page dedicated to each position below – we appreciate your patience as we work on the description. * denotes that the position would require the volunteer to be available around Arlington area for part of the program.

News for Our Future

  • NfOF Adviser: Suggest NfOF topics

  • Video Production Committee Member (15): Select topics and/or format for our future episodes

  • Ambassador: Learn and share about issues that affect our future

  • Specialist Mentor (22): Teach about issues that affect our future

  • Talent*: Present these issues in front of a camera(s)

  • Video Crew Mentor/Member* -including Trainer and Trainee: Share or be trained in video production skills

Ambassador Program

  • Ambassador: Learn and share about issues that affect our future

  • Specialist Mentor (22): Teach about issues that affect our future

Blog/Vlog

  • Blog Coordinator: Create and monitor blog/vlog entries

  • Blogger/Vlogger: Contributor for our blog/vlog site

Youth Earth Plan/EarthWiki

  • Outlook Researcher: Read and condense outlook reports prepared by international organizations

  • Research Coordinator (18): Edit and post the summaries on EarthWiki

  • Resource Manager (20): Find, prioritize and standardize the reports that should be summarized

Website

  • Web Manager (18): Advise and help website coordinator, when the coordinator has technical difficulties

  • Website Coordinator: Update our website, especially the home, volunteer and specific program pages

Social Media

  • Social Media Manager (18): Make sure website and social media sites are consistent with the current program

  • Facebook Coordinator: Responsible for a weekly update of OT Facebook page

  • Twitter Coordinator:  Response for at least twice a week update of OT Tweet

Newsletter

  • Newsletter Manager: Create monthly newsletter and post it on Constant Contact for our subscribers

Finances

  • Foundation Coordinator*: Write grant proposals to foundations that are in line with OT mission

  • Fundraising Manager* (22): Organize the overall fundraising plan with Board’s Finance Committee

Strategic Planning

  • Event Manager (20): Plan yearly events that Our Task can host as well as participate

  • Volunteer Supervisor (22): Work with Executive Director on volunteer recruitment effort
