Grant proposal writers are some of the most valued people in the non-profit world: Fundraising expertise is necessary to create all other opportunities, and is an incredibly highly valued skill-set. Non-profit organizations, like Our Task, do not, and cannot, exist without our generous funders, and the people who inspire them to fund us.
Fundraising volunteers will work with the Development Team on all aspects of non-profit of fundraising, including registering an organization to do fundraising, drafting proposals, researching prospective donors, drafting campaign letters, and perhaps most importantly, thanking donors. Volunteers new to fundraising will come away from the experience with a basic understanding of the overall fundraising process and experience joining an OT staff member at an “ask” meeting.
Activities include: Helping the Development Team to draft proposals, researching foundations, drafting campaign letters, thanking donors, and accompanying an OT staff member to a meeting with a potential funder.
Useful skills include: Excellent writing, critical thinking, and “people” skills – especially listening skills.
