We young people live not just with billions of other people, but also with growing numbers of groups that include our governmental, spiritual, corporate, international, scientific, media, educational, and civic institutions.

These institutions that have virtually all of the rights and powers of real people, but not the immediate need for a healthy environment.  Further, our institutions are locked together in a global system that is difficult for us young people to change.

Perhaps then the central challenge for young people is to redirect our institutions–our governments, business corporations, spiritual institutions, international, scientific, educational, media,  and civil organizations–to collectively move all humans toward planetary sustainability.

We young people can’t force our culture-shaping institutions to move or change, but since they are made up of our parents and grandparents, perhaps we can inspire them to change.   That’s Our Task.
