What are the key issues for young people everywhere on Earth?

All of what seem like really big issues–climate, poverty, food, energy, education, health, etc.–are really all sub-problems of one mega-issue for which we don’t even have a name.  Many Europeans refer to the mega-issue as the global problematique. In order to find solutions to some of the big issues facing the planet, therefore, we must dig deep to re-think elements of our cultures and our societies.

OT analyzes issues in terms of subject areas, and then thinks critically about how they interrelate.

Security Outlook- security

Ecological Outlook- ecological footprint, atmosphere & climate, oceans, forests, biodiversity, toxic substances

Resource Outlooks – energy, food, fish, land, water

Economic Outlook – economics

Social Outlooks- population, health, urbanization, and education

We are being educated by institutions that taught our parents’ and grandparents’ generations how to destroy Earth, not live in a mutually enhancing relationship with Earth.  Young people must work together to reeducate themselves and unlearn unsustainable behaviors they have been taught.
